  • Employees are entitled to notice depending on their length of service. If employment is less than 4 weeks, then notice is simply 1 day. If the length of service is more than 4 weeks but under a year, then the notice period is 7 days. Longer than a year of service comes with a 1 month notice period. 
  • Severance pay is set at 30 days of pay per year of service for the company. If the length of service is under a year, the severance is proportionally calculated.

  • The working week in Nepal runs from Sunday to Friday. 
  • Full-time employees generally work 8 hours per day, 48 hours per week. 
  • Employees are not allowed to work more than 40 hours per week without receiving overtime pay. 
  • Employees are entitled to a higher hourly rate for overtime. This is 150% of the basic rate.
