Our company manufactures plant-based meat produce that allow families to eat more (not less) of the traditional dishes they love, while feeling great about the health, sustainability, and animal welfare benefits of plant protein.

In 2016, they developed and launched a plant-based, raw-beef style burger that looks, cooks, and tastes so similarly to beef it’s being merchandised in the meat section of grocery stores—an industry first. They’ve sold over 50 million burgers to date, and in North America, their break-through products are now carried in nearly all major grocery outlets and 10,000+ food service outlets in the United States, including prominent QSRs like Carl’s Jr, Del Taco, A&W, Tim Hortons and others in test market (Subway, Dunkin Donuts and KFC).

Role Profile

The VP/GM China will be responsible for commercial leadership for all of mainland China. The primary responsibility will be top line revenue growth by expanding distribution in all channels of trade and developing marketing initiatives to increase brand awareness and trial. This position is accountable to evaluate and determine viable distribution partnerships, achieve sales objectives, P&L management, prepare and execute product programs, assess competitive environments and analyze/evaluate results by brand. It will be expected to build a collaborative relationship with the company’s Supply Chain and R&D.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead local sales and marketing team
  • Develop China strategic expansion plan
  • Identify and evaluate viable distributor partnerships
  • Assist in developing local marketing and customer execution plans with distributor partners
  • Review and evaluate performance in achieving sales and execution objectives for each Region that are clearly quantified, mutually agreed upon and effectively measured
  • Maintain ongoing distributor contact to expedite resolution of marketplace/customer opportunities
  • Conduct country market audits to assess the products’ position in the marketplace; monitor competitive activity and distributor effectiveness
  • Efficiently manage P&L to include Net Revenue, Gross Margin and Operating Income
  • Monitor ongoing business trends to effectively forecast sales volumes for each distributor
  • Work with Supply Chain to develop an efficient route-to-market
  • Work with R&D to develop relevant consumer product innovations

Requirements:

  • 8 – 10 years’ experience in general management in Chinese market (Consumer Packaged Goods Industry preferred)
  • 4-year college degree
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English – other languages a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (verbal/written) with the ability to interact effectively internally as well as with external contacts
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Must excel in multi-tasking within a fast-paced organization
  • Self-starter able to work well both independently and as a team
  • Strategic and committed to success
  • Must live in Shanghai or be willing to relocate

Physical Demands: The successful candidate must be able to travel on flights to international markets and work long, flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
