Introduction
Manuel: I’m Manuel Ramos, I’’m the General Manager of TERAO. Terao is a French engineering company that focuses on what we call “green building”. So, we help companies to build their assets in an efficient way. There’s a lot of incentive now from the government to push companies to build these kinds of assets, so we thought that it was the right time for a company like us to be here in China.
Why does your company need you in China?
Manuel: I have the double culture, I firstly have French culture, so it’s a French company. For sure, they may put a bit more trust in French people I would say but they also need people with experience. So with 13 years of experience I’ve seen the market evolve and I’m also from the building industry originally. So, I guess the double culture and the understanding of the building market was one of the main reasons why the asked me to join the company.
We think INS Global is a good solution about starting in a market like China. Understanding the market doesn’t mean you need to set up a company immediately.
Manuel: Our greatest success in China is our relationship with IKEA. We recently signed our tenth project with them, so they trust us to support them with of all their new construction projects. So it’s a great achievement for us, for a small engineering company such as TERAO to work with such an iconic brand as IKEA.
How does INS support you company?
Manuel: We think INS is a good solution when thinking, about starting in a market like China. As I said before, we wanted to first understand the market. Understanding the market doesn’t mean you need to set up a company immediately. So, we needed a solution that would help us to have someone here in China without allocating too many resources at the beginning such as creating a company. So, they helped us for sure with the Employee of Record solution so we were able to put our guys under INS’s payroll and it was a good solution I would say.
