  • The usual probation period is 15 days for non-qualified employees and 30 days for qualified employees. 
  • The employment contract should specify the nature of the job and describe the employee’s role. 
  • Employees are entitled to a notice period if they’re being let go. This can range from 1 to 2 months, depending on the skill level and service experience of the employee. 
  • Severance pay is required for employees when they’re terminated by their employer. This sum is equal to 1 month’s salary for the first 5 years of service and will increase by half a month’s pay for every year of service after that. 

Working Hours in Angola

  • The working week in Angola runs from Monday to Friday. 
  • Full-time employees generally work 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week. 
  • Part-time employees work 20 hours per week. 
  • Employees are entitled to a higher hourly rate for overtime. This is generally 150% of the normal rate for large companies and 130% for medium-sized businesses. The overtime rate is reduced to 120% for small businesses and 110% for micro-businesses.
