The California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) is designed to prohibit employment discrimination and harassment in the workplace.

This state law applies to employers with 5 or more employees, but FEHA protects characteristics including race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, ancestry, disability, medical condition, genetic information, age, and military and veteran status.

California Family Rights Act (CFRA)

The California Family Rights Act (CFRA) provides more employees with job-protected leave than similar federal acts.
